PA Game Commission Hunter Education
Learn How to Hunt!
We offer in-person Hunter-Trapper Education that is required to gain a hunting license in Pennsylvania.
Hunting Education is a crucial part of being a hunter. Boyertown Rod and Gun offers a free Hunter-Trapper education sanctioned by the PA State Game Commission to get hunters started on a safe and successful hunting career. More information can be found on their site here. The in-person training is suitable for all ages from 11 and older and is a requirement to hunt in PA. You can find our current registrations on our events calendar, and the registration links will be posted here when available. We offer single day, 8 hour courses on Saturday to best fit the schedule. Hunter-Trapper education is available to the public and is not a member-specific event.
Mentored Hunts
If you are a new hunter and don’t have a network that can help you pursue your passions, there are mentored hunts available though the PA Game Commission. There are youth-specific and adult-only hunts available. Learnhunting.org is run by the IHEA USA (International Hunter Education Association) in parallel with the PAGC to provide a means to pair new adult hunters with a mentor that will help you with everything to get started on your adventure.
