  • The annual meeting and dinner will be held on Monday evening, December 11th, 2023  Dinner will begin at 6pm. Election of officers for 2023 will be held at this meeting.
  • REMINDER You must have attended three monthly meetings during the calendar year to be eligible to vote and six to run for office. Sign the attendance ledger when you enter the clubhouse.
  • Day and Night vision cameras are on the property for the safety of everyone and the protection of club property.  By using club property, you agree to allow yourself and any guests to be filmed.
  • The rifle range (and possibly other ranges) will be closed on the first Saturday of every month from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM for maintenance and general repairs. Mowing is usually done on Mondays between 8 and 11 am. This work is done by just a few individuals. The more help we can get the sooner the ranges open. PLEASE come on out and help.

GUESTS:

We are continuing our “Guest Program”.

Any active club member in good standing who is 18 or over may apply to bring a guest on to the grounds. The cost is $5.00 per guest, per day, with a maximum of two guests per visit. The fee is paid by the member, not the guest. The rifle range, the pistol plinking range, and the archery range behind the building are available to use. You can also hand throw clay birds out beyond the trap houses. The pistol range (LLPC side), the 3-D archery range, and the fishing pond are not included at this time.

Forms, envelopes, and instructions are found at the club house just to the left of the main door. All paperwork must be completed and signed by both the member and the guest before using any ranges.  Put the application and the correct fee in the envelope, and then put the envelope in the mailbox found on the wall next to the entrance door of the club.

ACTIVITIES

1. MONTHLY MEETINGS:  Second Monday evening of the Month, 7:30 PM.  All members welcome.  PLEASE consider attending to find out the current club happenings.  Meetings typically last about an hour, and light food is served following each meeting to all who attend.

2. TRAP ACTIVITIES: Our monthly Sunday Shoots are held on the 2nd Sunday of each month and offer a casual environment for practice as well as “Lewis Class” shooting.  We also hold Tuesday evening shoots.  April through October, we begin shooting at 5:00 PM, offering both practice & our “Clay Buster League” (doubles and handicap are available on request). We also hold a shoot on Good Friday for Seasonal Ham prizes. From October through March, we hold our “Old Buzzards” shoots from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.   NOTE THAT THERE WILL NOT BE A BLACK FRIDAY SHOOT IN NOV.

We could not continue our highly active Trap Program without the efforts of a few truly dedicated individuals. While we are deeply indebted to this group of hardworking members, the truth of the matter is we are still understaffed and need more volunteers to help with our events.  If you can help, even on a limited basis, please stop in or contact someone here at the club.

3.  POPODICKON BOWMEN (Archery):  Our 3-D Shoots are held on the third Sunday of the month from March through August.  Registration is from 7:00 – 12:00.  Shoots are always open to the public.

We will be taking part in the Berks County Bowmen 3D league, along with Lenhartsville, Topton, Popodickon, and Shartlesville.  You do not have to be a member of the league to take part in the shoots.

4.  SMALLBORE SILHOUETTE: Shoots are Thursday evenings beginning in April 5:00 PM until dusk. We need leaders to continue this activity. Please view our calendar on our website for any updates.

5. SAFETY –   SAFETY – SAFETY:  Just a reminder, December through January is deer season around here and you may have hunters “pop up” accidentally behind the rifle and pistol back stops. If you see a person, stop shooting immediately, and let them pass.  Hunters are not supposed to be behind these backstops, but occasionally it still happens.    PLEASE BE ALERT ——   REMEMBER: SAFETY FIRST!

6.  LENI-LENAPE PISTOL: Come out and join us as we shoot precision pistol (Bullseye). No experience, no problem, we welcome any age, male or female interested in learning a new sport. Coaching available and even the use of firearms so you can experience the sport.   We have both winter and summer league programs. We also have matches and monthly 1800s thru the spring and summer.

Summer league starts the first Tuesday in April until the second last Tuesday in October.

Winter league starts the last Tuesday in October till the first Tuesday in April.

See more on our website for more information.

7.  MUZZLELOADER:  Our “Woods Walk Program” will continue to hold their shoots on the first Sunday of each month from November through March. The fee is $5.00 per shoot. Signup begins at 7:30 AM with the shoot starting at 8:30 AM.  Shoots typically end between 12-1pm.  For more information, check out our website.  Flintlocks are welcome, as are in-lines with round ball ammo.

Muzzleloader activities are held near the pond area. Please be alert if you plan to be in that area on those dates.

8.  HUNTING:  Just a reminder to all members who plan to hunt small game, turkey or deer on the property. You may only hunt with archery gear (crossbows included), muzzle loading gear (in-lines included) and shotguns.  We no longer allow the use of centerfire rifles and rimfire rifles for hunting on the property.  However, if you wish to trap, you can use a .22 rifle or pistol (manually operated) to dispatch your catch while on the property.  This rule was adopted as a safety precaution. Be careful and follow 150-yard safety rules. Please be courteous to other hunters and members at the facility.  BE SAFE AT ALL TIMES.

Remember!  Your membership card MUST BE DISPLAYED while using any club range or while fishing down at our pond. NO EXCEPTIONS.

9.  BB GUN:  At this time, we are in the process of reforming our BB gun program. We lost our long-time instructor, and the program needs more instructor help. If you would consider helping or getting involved in this program, please contact us. To the benefit of many of your children, we have been providing support for this program. We hope we can find some interest that will allow this program to continue.

We will post any new information on our website at: https://boyertowngunclub.org

10. Fishing: We stock trout in our pond for the first day of trout season for BRGC members only.  The limit is four fish per day. Please be courteous and safe.  PA Fishing License is always needed per PA Code.

11.Kids Rodeo: We also stock our pond with trout for all kids under the age of 16. Everyone must register upon arrival and must check out when they leave. The limit at the rodeo is 4 fish. The 2024 rodeo will be on May 11th, starting at 9:00 AM, running until 2:00 PM for prizes (kids may stay and fish beyond that time).  The pond will be open on Sunday just for kids under 16 only. We also plan to hold a “Special Needs Fishing Rodeo” in May. More details as soon as they are finalized.

PLEASE NOTE: the pond will reopen to BRGC members only of all ages on MONDAY, May 15th. Please observe the 4 trout limit per day. Please also take note that the pond will be closed to fishing the week before the rodeo for stocking.

MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOYERTOWN ROD AND GUN CLUB

Your club has been in existence since 1886. Our club has always been able to keep membership cost down due to support from our older members.

We can continue to handle our existing financial bills and expenses, but we need support to help with all our events and work details.

We are looking for volunteers to help with general maintenance such as mowing, maintain our ranges, buildings and supporting our programs.

Please consider volunteering some time to help sustain your club.

Work Detail is the 1st Saturday of the month 9:00 am till 1:00 pm. Please keep an eye on our calendar for updates.

We are in the process of creating a volunteer sign up form to be posted on our website. https://boyertowngunclub.org

Final note…

YOU are the Boyertown Rod and Gun Club.  Please consider coming out to a meeting and find out what is happening and see if you can contribute.  Many long-standing members have worked for years to support and grow our club.  We need others to step up. With your help, we can accomplish anything.

Thank You.

Officers and Board of Directors.
